Stand By Me

Plot
The plot of the short story and the movie are somewhat different. Parts of the movie where in different places in the short story. In the movie Gordie did not get in a fight with the store clerk. At the end of the movie it goes straight to where Gordie is an adult, in the short story, there are more events that take place after the journey like Gordie, Vern, and Chris get beat up. The story tells how three of the kids die and in the movie Chris is the only one that dies at the end. The movie also does not tell about Ace later in life.

Point of View
The story is told by Gordie. The movie is mostly dialogue. If the movie was like the book then it would not be as interesting because we would not know all of the other boys emotions. We get a better understanding of the characters and how they are feeling in the movie, rather than the book. We see how Chris truly feels about stealing the milk money. The movie is more in depth, point of view wise.

Characterization
Two flashbacks are added in the movie to reveal Gordie's relationship with his brother Denny. The first flashback is when Denny gives Gordie a Yankees baseball hat. That shows that Denny likes his brother and is close with Gordie. Another flashback is added when Gordie is eating dinner with his family. His dad talks about Denny and football all the time so Denny mentions Gordie's writing skills to his father but all his father cares about is Denny and his football career. Gordie is hated by his parents and do no care about him. All they cared about was Denny. These two flashbacks in the movie made Gordie's and Denny's relationship stronger than it was in the short story.

Setting
There are a couple differences in the setting of the movie and short story. In the movie, the year is 1959 opposed to 1960 in the short story. Also, he movie takes place all they way across the nation in Oregon. The short story takes place in Maine. There are no major differences that change the meaning of the story. They both are small towns and the places in the journey are the same as the ones in the short story.

Theme
The theme stays the same throughout the movie and the short story. In both the movie and short story they stay together as one to make their journey successful. The stand together so they can claim the body and scare away the older gang. The boys are there for each other. Chris is always looking out for Gordie and wants the best for him like a good friend should do. They have each others back through the movie and the short story. All of these thing can be seen in the movie and short story.

The Body

Plot
The plot of "The Body" by Stephen King takes place in 1960. "It happened in 1960, a long time ago...although sometimes it doesn't seem that long to me" (293). Four teenage boys from Castle Rock go off and find a young boy's dead body. The boys face problems with nature, gangs and within themselves. The pace of the story is pin point because once the boys get there, their brothers and their friends find them trying to turn in the body. The organization of the plot plays out the conflict very well because they arrive at the scene at the same time.

Point of View
The point of view of the story is from Gordon's perspective. "I was twelve going on thirteen when I first saw a dead human being" (293). Gordan retells the story from his childhood as an adult. He becomes a writer so the story is explained very well and every detail is mentioned. The downfall of him telling the story is he only gives his view on what happened. We don't get to see the other boys views on their situation. Gordan is the only one who could tell the story well because he is the smartest, has a future, and is a writer.

Characterization
The characters are significant to the story because they are young teenagers looking for something to do. "So anyway, you want to go see it?"(304). If Vern would have never heard Charlie and Billy they would have never went on that adventure. Gordon is the main character and is telling the story exactly how it happened. Gordon questions Chris is to why he brought a gun with them and eventually they needed it to protect themselves from getting beat up and so they could claim the body. All of the characters have a significant role in the story.

Setting
The story takes place is Castle Rock. The boys spend most of their time in their tree house. "We had a tree house in a big elm which overhung a vacant lot in Castle Rock"(293). The tree house is where they had all of their gatherings. They were also enjoying the nature on their way to see the dead boy. Most of the story took place while they were in the nature trying to find the boy.

Theme
The theme of the story is if you want something then go for it. There is nothing stopping you from what you want to have. The boys wanted to claim the dead body so they tried and didn't let the gang from stopping them. Another major theme is your best friends will always be there for you when u need them. Your friends can help you get through anything even if the times are rough. They were always there for each other and backed each other up.  "Ace, if you don't stand still I'm going to shoot you"(414). Chris is standing up for his friends by scaring the bigger kids with his gun.

sonnet 73

In Sonnet 73 William Shakespear compares his age to the season fall. He says as he grows older he is starting to die, just like the leaves are beginning to fall. He also compares his age to the twilight. As the light shines, it fades away slowly and goes away. As he gets older he is not as energetic as he used to be. Shakespear is saying that his youth has past using the metaphor. He is the fire "on the ashes of his youth". He tells the man that his love will stenghten as he passes away.

My grandma has Alzheimers and she is like the fire that is burning away slowly. I have to charish the time I have with her. I love her and talk to her all the time. When she passes away then I will love her more because I will miss her. She is like the season of fall because she is beginning to die slowly and approaching winter. Her light is starting to fade just like the twilight in the poem. Her youth is the ash because she is getting older and not being able to do as much as she used to. I lover her now with the fire still going but when it goes out I will miss her and lover her more than I do know because I won't get to see her.

I chose the song "Sorry, Blame it On Me" by Akon. Akon is apologizing for things that he has done in the past. He is also apologizing for things that he might do in the furture. Akon says he is sorry for not being there for his wife and kids. He put pain on his family and kids and says he will not do it again. He got taken away by the feds and says he is sorry for wat he did. This song goes along with the last characteristic, stories that are based on true events. Everything that he is sorry for really happend.

As life goes on I?m starting to learn more and more about responsibility
And I realize everything I do is affecting the people around me
So I want to take this time out to apologize for things that I've done
And things that haven't occurred yet
And things that they don?t want to take responsibility for

I?m sorry for the times that I left you home
I was on the road and you were alone
I?m sorry for the times that I had to go
I?m sorry for the fact that I did not know

That you were sitting home just wishing we
Could go back to when it was just you and me
I?m sorry for the times I would neglect
I?m sorry for the times I disrespect

I?m sorry for the wrong things that I?ve done
I?m sorry I?m not always there for my sons
I?m sorry for the fact that I am not aware
That you can?t sleep at night when I am not there

Because I'm in the streets like every day
I'm sorry for the things that I did not say
Like how you are the best thing in my world
And how I am so proud to call you my girl

I understand that there are some problems
And I am not too blind to know
All the pain you kept inside you
Even though you might not show

If I can't apologize for being wrong
Then it?s just a shame on me
I?ll be the reason for your pain
And you can put the blame on me

You can put the blame on me
You can put the blame on me
You can put the blame on me
You can put the blame on me

Said you can put the blame on me
Said you can put the blame on me
Said you can put the blame on me
You can put the blame on me

I'm sorry for the things that he put you through
And all the times you didn?t know what to do
I'm sorry that you had to go and sell those bags
Just trying to stay busy till you heard from dad

When you would rather be home with all your kids
As one big family with love and bliss
And even though pops treated us like kings
He got a second wife and you didn?t agree

He got up and left you there all alone
I?m sorry that you had to do it on your own
I?m sorry that I went and added to your grief
I?m sorry that your son was once a thief

I?m sorry that I grew up way too fast
I wish I would?ve listened and not be so bad
I?m sorry that your life turned out this way
I?m sorry that the Feds came and took me away

I understand that there are some problems
And I am not too blind to know
All the pain you kept inside you
Even though you might not show

If I can't apologize for being wrong
Then it?s just a shame on me
I?ll be the reason for your pain
And you can put the blame on me

You can put the blame on me
You can put the blame on me
You can put the blame on me
You can put the blame on me

Said you can put the blame on me
Said you can put the blame on me
Said you can put the blame on me
You can put the blame on me

I?m sorry that it took so long to see
They were dead wrong trying to put it on me
I?m sorry that it took so long to speak
But I was on tour with Gwen Stefani

I?m sorry for the hand that she was dealt
For the embarrassment that she felt
Just a little young girl trying to have fun
Her daddy shouldn't never let her out that young

I?m sorry for Club Zen getting shut down
I hope they manage better next time around
How was I to know she was underage?
In a 21 and older club they say

Why doesn?t anybody wanna take blame?
Verizon backed out disgracing my name
I?m just a singer trying to entertain
Because I love my fans I?ll take that blame

Even though the blame?s on you
Even though the blame?s on you
Even though the blame?s on you
I?ll take that blame from you

And you can put that blame on me
And you can put that blame on me
You can put that blame on me
And you can put that blame on me

And you can put that blame on me
And you can put that blame on me

heros

The best literary hero that comes to mind is superman. Superman is a fantastic hero because he saves everyone that is in need. He is brave, strong, and helpful. Superman could be doing something no involving saving someone and he will take time out of his regular life to help a person in need. He fights villains and keeps his city the safest as he possibly can.

My personal heroes is my mom and dad. They raised me to be the person I am today. My parents would do anything for me because they love me and care for me. They have taught me the importance of life and chose to put God in my life. I am blessed to have parents that love and care for me as much as they do.

One person that comes to mind when I hear Popular hero is Dr.King. He kept the civil rights movement going when no other person would take that responsibility. He risked his life for what he believed in. Dr.King knew what was right and stepped up for millions of black citizens. He risked his life for his race.
